County Elections Soon

Upcoming County Elections!!

It seems there is no posting or discussion lately. Nothing to talk about or is it that nobody has anything to say?
With county elections looming in a few weeks it might be good to get some dialog started on the candidates,
who they are, what they are promising and if they are worthy of our votes. At least those where there is a choice.

County Auditor:

Dawn Sattler (D) (incumbent)
Cheryl Rondeau-Bassett (I)

What choice is there here? Dawn has been in office for awhile, long enough to screw things up majorly. Roberts county
was audited several times and the Auditor's office was found lacking every single time. This past audit not only cost the county $50,000
but it was found that a very large sum of county money is missing and the Auditor has not been filing reports, has no idea what her
duties are and obviously is not remoresful over her lack of fulfilling what she is getting paid for.

Cheryl Rondeau-Bassett on the other hand, is a successful business person with good credentials and a good education
who is willing (and clearly able) to take on the auditor position and get things straightened out. She is the one who is
dependable and trustworthy to be handling our tax dollars, not someone who "misplaces money" or fails to file timely reports.

This blog endorses Cheryl Rondeau-Bassett for Roberts County Auditor.

County Commission #1:

Floyd DeCoteau (R)
John Tchida (R)

Both of these are unknowns and even though their positions have been published in the Courier, they are so vague that
one cannot be chosen over the other. It seems to be DeCoteau in the lead slightly.

This blog endorses Floyd DeCoteau for Commissioner #1

County Commission #3:

William Utne (R)
James Crawford (D)
Don Carlson (I)

Mr. Utne didn't fill out a questionnaire. Don Carlson has been interested enough to attend most of the CC meetings since filing for office,
which says a lot. Both Carlson and Crawford gave some good answers in their questionnaires, but were vague on the issues so this one is
a toss-up.

This blog does not endorse any of the 3 candidates for Commissioner #3

County Commission #5:

Eugene Paulson (I)
Chad Ward (D)
Roger Navratil (I) (incumbent)

Mr. Paulson has some very good points in his questionnaire and from flyers found around the county he addresses most of the major issues
thoroughly and has well-laid plans to solve them. He utilizes common sense and everyone knows the current CC does not.

Mr. Ward seems to have dropped off the public route here. No questionnaire filled out so cannot make an assessment on him at this time.

Mr. Navratil is an incumbent and he has shown everyone that he is an extremely poor choice for any elected position. He has no common sense,
no problem-solving skills, little intelligence...but lots of arrogance and mouth. He is a follower and he has proved that to us already.
We need someone who will stand up and take action when needed and know when to be quiet and listen when needed. Mr. Navratil is not that person.

This blog endorses Eugene Paulson for Commissioner #5

Hopefully this will be enough for a dialog to get started here. Any pro's or con's on a candidate? Please enlighten us.
The most important thing is that you get out and VOTE on November 2nd. Of course absentee voting is going on right now.

This would encompass all public employees in the RC courthouse whether elected, appointed or hired.

Why don't the employees of the court house offer to give up something? Talk around the coffee table(with a commissioner present)is there will have to be layoffs. If each gave up a little then all could keep their jobs. A day a month or even a week off to help their co-workers out seems fair. We would where I work if it came to that. It boils down to "Love thy neighbor".

Read the Commiss minutes this week. Notice how low 911 fund is for one. And 24/7 is in the red!!! Thats a state program and monies can only be used for that supplies and salery for person doing them. No county is in the red if you have followed the right ups about this program in other counties. Why Roberts Co. All are pleased with it and the success. I hope auditors office has'nt dipped into it!!!

Why cant we ever get an answer from the Auditor when we ask a finnacial question?? Such as how much is in general fund? "Oh I dont know I have to add some bills and takeaway some" "It would take me a few days to get you an answer."What if other places that handle "OUR"money like our bank would give us this kind of answer when we want what our balance is to see if our check books were correct??? We would change banks, Well easy answer CHANGE AUDITORS. Support someone with some savy on books for Auditor come Primary which is right around the corner!!! Lets take charge of our county this year the "CLAN" has ran it long enough and we all know who they are!!!!

We sure need someone to take a run at the Auditor position. Didn't someone mention they had a candidate who was going to run earlier?
Make sure your petitions are full of registered voters and get them handed in on time to make this work!!
Doubt it would be very hard to beat out the present one!!

Wow! Knew the auditor thought her job title said commissioner but never figured she wasn't doing what she got elected to do.
RC is broke so how will this audit bill get paid? Better not raise taxes!! Should rather dock the auditors paycheck!!

I am not surprised at Auditors words. She has 2 employees but never gives them important books to do(like funds) Was she afraid they would learn to much and run against her???? We need to find someone. The one I had in mind that is very numbers smart said"No way would I step into that mess!!"

Anonymous said...

Yeah, who in there right mind would????

Seems to me the auditor should have to pay for her errors. If she would have stayed out of the CC business maybe she'd have had time to do what she was elected to do!
Shame on her if she doesn't make this right to RC and shame on us if we allow her to stay!

If we want Dawn out of office we have to get a petition and remove her. She is a elected person so voters have to remove her. Are we all talk and no show???? Do we really want change in Roberts County?? Will someone pick up the ball and take out a petition??? We will see really how serious Voters are about change. Can we do what the Tribe did?? Get the main problem removed??? Do you see the Aduit in paper?? Do you see where shes showing us where our money is going??? Well lets see if its all talk and no action!!!! You kno0w what to do. Get a copy ofr Audit its bad!!!!!

I notice not one person has posted to this question so my comments will probably go unnoticed but we do have a candidate running against Dawn. Cheryl Rondeau-Basset is in this race and many of us are supporting her. She will inheritate a mess but is more than willing to try to straighten it all out. I am asking you to support her by voting to clean house at the courthouse.
